relaxing medical peel
medical peel
A medical peel is a safe, clinically-proven procedure to peel away the damaged outer layers of skin, producing a smoother, tighter and younger-looking appearance. Chemical peels correct age spots, fine lines, wrinkles and acne. It’s safe for all skin types. With just one peel you’ll notice a visible improvement in the texture and tone of your skin, fewer obvious lines, and a healthier, more youthful appearance.

Are you a Candidate?

The vast majority of adults and adolescents are candidates for a medical peel, regardless of skin colour. Patients with the following conditions or symptoms should speak with one of our spa technicians before undergoing a medical peel: Patients with a history of allergies, rashes or other skin reactions; anyone with an allergy to salicylates (i.e aspirin); patients who have taken Accutane™ or received chemotherapy or radiation therapy; pregnant or breastfeeding (lactating) women; and anyone under the age of 12.

Where Can Medical Peel Be Used
  • Face
  • Neck
  • Chest
  • Hands
The Procedure
A medical peel takes about 20 minutes to perform. One of our spa technicians will apply a peeling agent to your skin. The topmost layer of your cells will dry up and peel off over the course of several days. This ultimately exposes a new layer of skin, one with better tone and texture. A medical peel also stimulates the growth of new cells, which tightens your skin and decreases wrinkling. One peel can significantly improve your skin's appearance, although you may require follow-up treatments for best results.

When the procedure is complete, one of our technicians will customize a program to suit your specific skin type and needs. We will choose your home care package from a variety of natural fruit acids in varying strengths, one that will best suit your skin type and ensure the best effect on your skin.

Before Treatment
Prior to your medical peel treatment, avoid excessive sun exposure and the following procedures: electroloysis, waxing, depilatory creams, laser hair removal. If at all possible avoid using the following products 2-3 days prior to your medical peel: any exfoliating products, any products that dry or irritate skin (products that contain salicylic acid or AHA’s including glycolic acids) and any products containing Vitamin A or retinol. Shaving of the area that will be peeled should also be avoided prior to treatment.

After Treatment
When treatment is complete, avoid or minimize sun exposure for a week. Your skin may look and feel mildly windburned a few days before it peels. Slight flaking may occur; this can be controlled with a moisturizer like Viver Lexxel or IDS. Avoid using any foundation during or prior to the time your skin is actually peeling. Avoid using any type of scrub, AHA’s, glycolic acid, vitamin C or retinol creams.

Let the skin peel naturally and shed on its own rate to avoid scarring or rashes. Avoid pulling or peeling the shedding skin. After a week, you should find your skin looking clearer and smoother. At this time it is fine to resume using your normal skin care products.
