Microdermabrasion therapy
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive, non-surgical procedure that includes no downtime. This skin resurfacing technique helps repair the damaging effects of the sun and aging. The Microdermabrasion process stimulates the production of new skin cells and collagen and helps to keep your skin healthy, clear, and younger-looking. It can remove fine lines, crow's feet, age spots, skin discoloration, acne scars, and sun-damaged skin.

Are You A Candidate?
If you suffer from sun-damaged skin, mild to moderate lines and wrinkles, acne scars or uneven skin texture, a microdermabrasion treatment at Spa on Hunter might be just right for you. Microdermabrasion is generally safe for all skin types and for both genders. The procedure doesn’t require heat, acid or chemicals. There is usually no down time.

The Procedure
One of our experienced spa technicians will use a device similar to a mini-sandblaster to spray tiny aluminum oxide crystals across your skin. This gentle abrasion loosens the dead outer layer of your skin while a suction device removes the dead skin.

By removing dead skin, the basal layer of the dermis is prompted to create new cell and collagen production. The process thoroughly cleans out your pores and decreases the likelihood of future acne breakouts.

Each treatment takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the amount of skin that must be addressed. Anywhere from 5-12 sessions every 2-3 weeks is recommended to achieve optimum results. Microdermabrasion can also be combined with a medical peel for more dramatic results.

Before Treatment
Before receiving a microdermabrasion treatment, avoid excessive exposure of the sun and stop using products that contain aspirin or salicylic acid. If you are a smoker, it would be beneficial to stop a week prior to treatment to help improve blood circulation to the skin. And chemical peels and collagen injections should be avoided for two weeks prior to this treatment.

After Treatment
You will see and enjoy immediate results following your treatment. Your skin will feel clean and smooth. Your skin tone and texture will improve significantly after several treatments. Skin will be pink and renewed. For a few days, there may be some flaking and dryness as the skin repairs itself. Skin may feel dry and peel. If you’ll use of a high-quality moisturizer every day following treatment you’ll help to ensure that the effects of your treatment will last longer.

You should schedule your next appointment for 2-3 weeks after each treatment to achieve desired results.
